The constitutions and founding fathers of Norway and the USA – shared influences and legacies
Bård Frydenlund is a historian and director (CEO) at Eidsvoll 1814 – The historic house museum of Eidsvoll Manor, Centre of Constitutional History and the National Monument of Norway. Eidsvoll 1814 is currently developing a museum project on the two oldest constitutions in the world and its founding fathers, and how their work shaped the American and Norwegian societies respectively.
In this mini seminar Frydenlund will pair up American and Norwegian founding fathers to show their similar roles in the political revolutions on both sides of the Atlantic, and eventually discuss the role of the constitutions in both countries up until today.
Introduction by Bård Thorheim, Political Adviser to Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ine Eriksen Søreide.
